Bacon. Lettuce. Tomato. Caesar. BLTC. Heck yeah.
So I lied. I said two posts ago when I talked about stress that I’d not just share mental, physical, and spiritual symptoms of stress but also what the speaker said you can do to alleviate stress. Annnd I didn’t. I left you all looking at a long list going, I have that, that, that, that, that, and that. Great. Now I’m more stressed realizing how much I show signs of stress!
So what can you do about it? You’ve probably heard some of this before, but that’s because it works. It’s simple, or basic, but effective.
- Get enough sleep. That’s about 7-9 hours a night but varies person-to-person.
- Exercise regularly. Not for weight control (though it can help with that) but because it’s proven to physiologically reduce symptoms of stress. AKA MAKE YOU HAPPY!
- Laugh regularly. I LOVED hearing this one! And I feel like it’s so true!! Laughter reduces stress and improves mood.
- Eat healthy. Eat when you’re hungry, stop when you’re full. Choose healthy foods most of the time and have your “treats” when you want them in proper portion sizes.
- Do some breathing exercises. They act physiologically on your nervous system to combat the stress response. Or go to yoga.
- Get some fresh air. Amazing what even a minute outside in the middle of the day will do for you.
There you have it, the third of three Caesar salads. In case you missed the others, check out Blackened Salmon Caesar and Spicy Kale Caesar with Chicken and Candied Pepitas.
- 2 slices bacon
- 2 chicken breasts
- ½ teaspoon Chicago Steak Seasoning*
- 1 head hearts of romaine (or two if you want a bigger salad), chopped
- ½ cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- Caesar Salad Dressing
- Sriracha for serving (optional)
- In a cold cast iron skillet, add two slices of bacon. Turn heat to medium low. When bacon edges begin to brown, flip bacon.
- When bacon fully cooked, set aside on a paper towel lined plate.
- Season both sides of chicken with Chicago Steak Seasoning. Add chicken to pan, cooking it in the remaining bacon drippings. After chicken has cooked 8-10 minutes and is browned, flip and cook another 10 minutes or until cooked through. (For quicker cooking, dice chicken into cubes before adding to pan.)
- When chicken is fully cooked take out of pan and set aside to rest.
- Chop or break bacon with your hands into smaller pieces.
- In a large bowl, add romaine, tomatoes, bacon. Add your desired amount of Caesar Salad Dressing and toss to combine. Slice or dice chicken.
- Plate salad and top with chicken. Drizzle with Sriracha if desired, then enjoy!
